|Thank you to all who supported our fundraising efforts for "Relay for Life". Our team raised over $6,000 for The American Cancer Society for the 2010 event. The entire event raised over $125,000.
Come join us for the 2011 event. Dates are 6/17/09 and 6/18/09.
"Relay for Life" is the signature fund raising event for the American Cancer Society. It raises funds for cancer research and patient services.
One of these services is the Hope Lodge. This is a place for patients and families to stay while the patient is taking treatments. It is a comfortable home setting with access to a kitchen. They enjoy the companionship and support of other families and patients. Internet services are provided so that they can let family and friends know the patient's progress. This is a free service and takes a huge burden off the patient and their family.
Relay is a fun event, with many activities for people of all ages. There is a survivors' dinner before Relay starts. The first lap of Relay is the survivors' lap, followed by the caregivers. Around 10PM is the luminary ceremony. All lights are turned off and the track glows with the candle light of the luminaries. Luminaries are for both survivors and those that have lost the battle with cancer. The names on each bag is read. It is a very moving ceremony.
I don't know of anyone that has not had a family member or friend affected by cancer. This is why I am involved in Relay for Life.
If you would like to join our team, purchase a luminary for a loved one or make a donation through our team, please contact Pam.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
